Transit point

A named physical place at a venue where material arrives or leaves — a gate, a dock, a service road entrance, a marshalling yard.

Why it matters operationally

A venue has one address and many ways in, and the address is rarely the way in. Drivers routed to a stadium’s main entrance end up circling a ring road looking for the service gate, which is how a delivery window gets missed. Service roads in particular are frequently wrong or absent in commercial map data.

How Roadmap handles it

Transit points are first-class places on the venue map with their own type and their own pin. Where the address is wrong — which on service roads it usually is — the pin can be placed by hand.
