Last-mile delivery

The final leg of a shipment — from a local warehouse or marshalling yard to the actual dock, gate or space it is needed at.

Why it matters operationally

The last mile is where event logistics diverges from ordinary distribution. The destination is a service gate with a time window inside a security perimeter, often on a road that commercial mapping has wrong. It is short, expensive, and the part most likely to fail.

How Roadmap handles it

Because transit points are modelled as real places with pins that can be corrected by hand, the last leg is addressed to somewhere a driver can actually find.
