Marshalling yard

An off-site or perimeter area where vehicles are held, checked and released to a venue dock in sequence.

Why it matters operationally

Venues in cities have nowhere to queue. The marshalling yard is what stops twenty trucks arriving at a stadium at nine in the morning; it converts an uncontrolled arrival pattern into a controlled one, and it is usually where accreditation and security screening happen too.
