Staging area

Space set aside to hold material after it has been received but before it goes to the place it will be used.

Why it matters operationally

Almost nothing goes straight from a truck to its final position. Staging is where sequencing actually happens, and it is a scarce resource — a venue’s back-of-house is small and shared. Material staged in the wrong place gets moved twice, which is the most common source of avoidable labour on a build.
